Fueling My Future Scholarship Details

Here’s what you must do:

  • Applicants must provide documentation showing acceptance to an accredited Vermont vocational school or trade program
  • Write and submit a 1-2 page essay responding to the prompt provided
  • If selected, the scholarship recipient must agree to check in with the assigned Bourne’s Energy representative at regular intervals to update on the status of their trade program progression. We’re excited for you and want to know how you’re doing!
  • Agree to have your name, image, and likeness used in promotional materials for the scholarship program


To be eligible for the “Fueling My Future” scholarship, you must:

  • Be a high school senior enrolled in a Vermont high school
  • Be accepted to an approved trade program at an accredited two-year college, vocational school, technical school, or other approved technical program located in Vermont

  • Automotive technology
  • Aviation technology
  • Commercial Driving (CDL)
  • Diesel Technology
  • Electrical Technology
  • Energy Technology
  • Heavy Equipment Operation
  • HVAC
  • Machining
  • Manufacturing
  • Plumbing
  • Welding

Application Deadline:

July 15th, 2024. Applicants are encouraged to submit completed applications as early as possible. Bourne’s Energy reserves the right to either cut off or extend the application submission deadline at its sole discretion.

Bourne’s Energy Fueling My Future Essay Prompts

In one to two pages (1000 characters or less), please answer one of the following prompts:

  1. Tell us about the real-life experiences behind your decision to choose a skilled trades career path.
  2. Tell us which skilled trade career path you are pursuing and why you feel it’s a great fit for you.
  3. Tell us about someone in the skilled trades field who has inspired you. Please include the career you intend to pursue in your essay.

Is this award renewable?

No, this award can only be awarded to a student once upon completion of their senior year of high school.

Who Administers this program?

Bourne’s Energy manages this scholarship and all aspects of the award at its sole discretion. Recipients will be chosen based on applicants’ essay submissions.

When will a scholarship recipient be announced?

Bourne’s Energy will contact a scholarship recipient on or around August 16th, 2024. Once the recipient has been contacted and award details have been confirmed, Bourne’s Energy will announce the winner on our website and social media.

What are the details of the award, and how are funds issued?

The “Fueling My Future” scholarship can be applied to tuition fees, books, and/or tool costs only at an accredited program outlined above. It cannot be applied to transportation or any other living expenses. The scholarship funds will be issued directly to the school or program the recipient is enrolled in. Funds will not be awarded directly to the recipient.

How will award recipients be notified they have won the “Fueling My Future” scholarship?

Recipients will be called by phone using the number supplied when they submit their application. Bourne’s Energy will make every effort to reach the recipient by phone. If they are unable to do so, they will send one email notifying the recipient of the award with further instructions. Should the recipient not respond to either the phone or email within two weeks of receiving them, Bourne’s Energy reserves the right to select a new recipient from the remaining applicants.

Can I opt out of notifications?

While you are always legally allowed to opt out of notifications from Bourne’s Energy, we strongly advise against it during the application process. Applicants are responsible for responding to requests for further information, understanding deadlines and application communications, and responding to calls and emails from Bourne’s Energy. Failure to respond could result in losing your scholarship. Bourne’s Energy will never sell your information to any third party.

Things NOT to do during your submission


  • Upload a document stating you are mailing any part of your application to us
  • Mail any part of your application to us
  • Password-protect your essay submission. Password-protected documents will be automatically rejected and the applicants will not be notified of this rejection.
  • Upload any file that has a viewing expiration date.
